'Android Go to be rolled out in 2018'

Google Assistant

Google CEO Pichai also announced another feature called Google Lens which can recognise objects by simply pointing smartphone's camera at them.

The Google Assistant comes to the iPhone.

You can find out the type of flower by pointing at it, for example, or get reviews for a restaurant you're walking by. And today, we're introducing new ways your Assistant can help you do even more.

There are also some small but helpful new additions that'll be visible in the interface. But not anymore, as Google made the Assistant's services available to the majority of Android phones with running Marshmallow or higher. Google I/O 2017, Scott Huffman, Vice President, Assistant said Google Assistant is now more conversational as it can understand natural languages'. French, German, Brazilian Portuguese and Japanese are rolling out this summer.

Google I/O 2017 has been absolutely packed with announcements, but the company isn't done yet. Google Assistant is on more than 100 million devices after being on the market for slightly more than six months and now is trying to invade new territory with a free app released Wednesday that works on the operating system powering Apple's iPhone. Then there's Google Jobs, its platform that makes it easier to find jobs.

It's similar to what Google has done within the YouTube app for years now, except on a system-wide scale.

Initially only available in the USA and Canada, users will be able to link their contact book with the speaker and make free calls over their internet connection. But along with these, smart text feature also makes Maps icon to pop which will show you the address directly.

Another interesting new feature to watch out for is Proactive Assistance.

Google will also release the Assistant SDK for developers, as brands like LG, Panasonic, Sony, and others to build the AI into their products. But it's an important link in Google's mission to bring computing to people in developing communities, many of whom start with a phone.

The Mountain View-based firm also revealed that Home was getting Spotify and Bluetooth support, plus SoundCloud, Deezer and - in the U.S. at least - HBO NOW. Google Photos will now suggest pictures to share on the basis of what people are looking at.

Finally, Google announced a significant new capability to Assistant: improving its Actions capability on Assistant to include transactions, including payments.
