The Labour leader said wars have increased insecurity "at home", and, "they have caused destabilization and devastation overseas".

Mr Corbyn said that in office, Labour would work to halt the "drift to conflict" with Russian Federation while maintaining its opposition to human rights abuses by Moscow.

With just under four weeks to go before the election, the latest YouGov poll, of more than 1,600 people between 9-10 May, put the Conservatives 16 points ahead of Labour (46% versus 30%).

The PM also sounded somewhat reticent about the same foreign entanglements in the very Philadelphia speech that Mr Corbyn criticised.

Despite his long record as an anti-war campaigner, the Labour leader says there are circumstances when military intervention is justified as a "genuine last resort".

"While Theresa May seeks to build a coalition of risk and insecurity with Donald Trump, a Labour government will refocus Britain's influence towards cooperation, peaceful settlements, and social justice", he added.

Mr Corbyn said: "I am often asked if as prime minister I would order the use of nuclear weapons".

Jeremy Corbyn has accused Theresa May of "pandering" to Donald Trump and warned she could embroil the United Kingdom military in Syria's civil war if returned to Downing Street.

A Labour government under his leadership after the June 8 election would not see India in those terms, he said in a major foreign policy speech at Chatham House that reiterated his views against war and promised a less gushing approach to US President Donald Trump.

"Labour's support for the renewal of the Trident submarine system does not preclude working for meaningful, multilateral steps to achieve reductions in nuclear arsenals", he added. "It's an extraordinary question when you think about it; would you order the indiscriminate killing of millions of people?"

Mrs May accused the Labour leader of wanting to take Britain back to 1970s, while Conservatives are focused on tackling the "five great challenges" of the future which will be set out in next week's Tory manifesto. Would you risk such extensive contamination of the planet that no life could exist across large parts of the world?

He also said that if his party were to get a majority next month, his focus would have to be on "strengthening worldwide cooperation and supporting the efforts of the United Nations to resolve conflicts".

The Labour leader said he would honor Britain's North Atlantic Treaty Organisation commitment to spend 2 percent of its GDP on defense.

Protecting the country would be his "first duty" as PM, he said - denying that he's a pacifist.

Despite Mr Corbyn's declaration that the Brexit question was "settled" by last year's referendum, the document states withdrawing from the European Union without a deal would be the "worst possible" outcome and would be rejected as a "viable" option.

She said: "He says he wants to change Britain - and that's true".

"Jeremy Corbyn is simply too weak and shambolic to stand up to terrorists and tyrants who want to do us harm".
