Governors wary of Medicaid cost shift in Senate health bill

In Montgomery County, 26,000 people would lose the coverage they gained through Medicaid expansion, and another 37,000 who have private health insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace also would be at risk if the Senate bill passes, Commissioners Chairwoman Dr. Valerie Arkoosh said Thursday. As of Thursday, the secret's out.

Many of McConnell's colleagues, however, are confident that if anyone can find 50 votes, it's their majority leader - a political tactician who knows Senate procedure inside and out. "Obamacare isn't working", he said. "There's a difference between that normal functioning of politics and certain issues or certain moments where I think our core values may be at stake", he told reporters in January.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer pushed back.

The former president, however, admitted that Obamacare "was not perfect". It's apparent in the bill's haphazard cuts to Medicare.

McConnell's dilemma is similar to what House Speaker Paul Ryan faced earlier this year when he struggled to get enough votes to get the House Republican bill through the lower chamber.

"The Senate bill may be even meaner". He also wants health insurance tax credits tied to age and income. And I believe that it's possible - if you are willing to make a difference again.

Senator Maggie Hassan, Democratic Senator from New Hampshire.

Obama said he hopes the proposed "discussion draft" of the Senate's health care bill that repeals key components of his signature Affordable Care Act aims at more than "simply undoing something that Democrats did".

Obama law: Provides two kinds of subsidies for people who don't have access to coverage on the job.

The proposal released Thursday calls for a slower phase-out of the Medicaid expansion than a bill adopted by the House.

House GOP bill: Cuts taxes by almost $1 trillion over the next decade, mostly for corporations and the richest families.

The shrewd Kentuckian has made himself practically the sole arbiter of the bill and will be largely responsible for the outcome, whether it's a win, a loss, or a win that turns into a loss over time as unpopular consequences of the legislation take hold. The CBO is expected to weigh in on the Senate draft bill early next week.As lawmakers made speeches about the legislation on the Senate floor, a protest erupted outside McConnell's personal office, with many people in wheelchairs blocking a hallway, holding signs and chanting: "No cuts to Medicaid". States can seek waivers that would allow insurers to charge higher premiums based on health status under certain circumstances. There are also people with disabilities as well as our seniors. Cutting it by billions and billions of dollars.

"As I have consistently stated, if the bill is good for Nevada, I'll vote for it and if it's not - I won't", Heller said. "Let's be very clear".

"It's going to be very hard because it is a complex bill and there are a lot of differing points of view on it too, which is the real problem", GOP Sen.

"But, here's the bigger issue".

"If they go to the doctor or go to the hospital now, at least that provider gets some money seeing that patient". Behavioral health problems often co-occurring the substance abuse disorder.

The four say there are provisions that are an improvement to the current health care system. "We all have different constituencies, and the ability to thread the needle for all those constituencies is a very hard task".

Senate GOP bill: Creates $2 billion fund to provide grants to states for substance abuse and mental health treatment. "But this is being rushed through by all the Republicans because they know how unpopular it is".
