Kim Jong Un made very wise and well reasoned decision

He said US President Donald Trump had assured South Korea he would consult with them before making any military decisions on North Korea.

Trump tweeted last Thursday that USA military solutions are "locked and loaded" and told reporters perhaps his "fire and fury" warning "wasn't tough enough".

But as State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert said on Tuesday, the U.S. has no plans of stepping them down.

"The United States and President Trump have already promised to sufficiently consult with South Korea and get our approval for whatever option they will take against North Korea", Moon said.

Fan, the vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission, told Dunford that Beijing insists that "negotiations are the only effective option" to solve the issue.

North Korea is currently holding three United States citizens it accuses of espionage or hostile acts, but now is not the right time to discuss them, KCNA reported, citing a foreign ministry spokesman.

Trump's resolve has sparked doubt and fear in some people.

Former Defence Secretary William J. Perry published a similar statement.

He said: "We are prepared for many situations".

Trump stunned the world last week by warning North Korea it faced "fire and fury" if it continued to threaten the United States or its allies with its ballistic missile program. Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein miscalculated by relying on ambiguity, only feeding U.S. determination for certainty; George W. Bush miscalculated in unleashing "shock and awe" on the basis of a murky United Nations mandate, finding no weapons of mass destruction, as well as underestimating the difficulty of occupying post-war Iraq and reconstituting a functioning Iraqi government, given the existing Sunni/Shiite political divide. In one sense, he is a man of his word.

Heather Nauert, a spokeswoman of the U.S. State Department, elaborated in a briefing in Washington Tuesday that Pyongyang's pulling back from its threat to launch ballistic missiles at waters near Guam was not enough for Washington to engage in dialogue.

When North Korea announced it had presented plans to Kim Jong Un on a possible strike at Guam, it included deescalatory language that seemed to invite the U.S. to tone down its military exercises.

It is rumored that, the US has been confidentially telling China that if China decides to abduct or assassinate Kim Jong-un, the USA would have allowed China to establish a puppet government.

A senior Chinese general has told the top USA military officer that military action should not be an option in addressing the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

Washington has said it prefers global diplomatic action to stop North Korea's ballistic missile and nuclear programmes but it is ready to use force if needed.

Kim continues to bombast about his weapon program and threatens to use these weapons on his neighbors, where there are numerous US bases. Military historian Max Boot likewise argues that just as we lived with a nuclear-armed Soviet Union, we should accept Pyongyang's nukes - "then sit back and wait for North Korea's eventual collapse".

On Tuesday, China, which has been accused by the U.S. of not doing enough to rein in Kim's authoritarian regime, started implementing a ban on North Korean imports of iron, iron ore and seafood as part of a far-reaching UN Security Council resolution passed earlier this month.

Scobell said the current situation is unprecedented and that kind of rhetoric from Trump underscores that and sends a signal to North Korea and China "that the USA takes the current situation extremely seriously".

The annual 10-day military drills antagonizes North Korea, as Pyongyang believes they are preparations for an invasion.

The latest round of sabre-rattling is not unconnected with Pyongyang's usual military threats towards its immediate neighbours as well as the United States and the entire world. Ultimately, the lives of millions of Americans - and Japanese and South Koreans and innocent North Koreans - depend on recognizing that, like elections, nuclear proliferation has consequences. Specialists speculate that the ICBMs will be ready in early 2018, meaning that that will be when US allies such as Australia and Japan will lose their protection under the nuclear umbrella.

Additionally, strict economic sanctions against North Korea have recently been implemented to further discourage the regime from continuing on their dangerously reckless path of aggression towards the United States. Kim's response will determine whether Trump's warning against "overt action" is more of a "wavy red line" than "a line in the sand".

"He does something in Guam, it will be an event the likes of which nobody's ever seen before", Trump told reporters on the10th. In 1992, China established formal relations with South Korea, which deepened Pyongyang's concerns. But the faster we make that adjustment, the safer we will be. In 2002, Mr. Bush lumped North Korea with Iraq and Iran in the "Axis of Evil". The Koreas are still technically at war, with no peace treaty signed at the end of the 1950-53 Korean War. "Whitehall needs to be preparing now for a range of possible scenarios that could unfold in the coming months".
