Sindhu played a quality game with controlled aggression forcing Chen around the court, taking full control of each rally to further extend her lead to 7-0.

On Friday, the seventh seed had knocked out the reigning world and Olympic champion, Carolina Marin.

Praneeth fought hard before going down 21-19, 10-21, 12-21 to World No. 4 Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei, while Jayaram, who had disposed off The Netherland's Mark Caljouw on Wednesday, was no match for two-time defending champion Chen Long of China as he lost 11-21, 10-21 in 41 minutes.

After winning the semi-final, Sindhu has secured India of at least a silver medal.

Sindhu made her first final appearance in the World Championship on Sunday.

Saina Nehwal had won a bronze yesterday after losing her semifinal. Okuhara came back from a set down to beat Nehwal 12-21, 21-17, 21-10 to shut out the fans' hope of seeing an all Indian championship final.

After the break, Okuhara seemed to vary the pace and Saina too faltered with a forehand and backhand return which helped the Japanese take a 14-11 lead.

Sindhu picked the first point of the second game ending a 25-shot rally with a backhand push. Playing the faster side of the court, Sindhu tried to make her opponent bend and move across the court with her acute-angled strokes. Okuhara conceded a point with a service error but a judgement error from Saina at the baseline again gave the Japanese a slender 17-16 lead.

Sindhu again got off to a strong start in the second game, to lead 9-3.

The final game was the most intense game seen in women's singles badminton. But the gritty Sindhu bounced back to win four crucial points and led 16-13.

"I am upset. In the third game, it was anybody's game at 20-all". Sindhu would be the fresher of the two players as her quarterfinal against Sun lasted only 39 minutes and might hold the edge if the match goes to three games. Until the end, both of them fought greatly for victory. Sindhu also got warning for misconduct for not turning up on the court in time. The result was Sindhu quickly moved to 15-5 lead.

The Hyderabad-resident became the first Indian to claim back-to-back world championships medals with another impressive semi-final run at the 2014 edition. Sindhu kept her nerves and mind in control as she drew level at 20-20.
