Nintendo Direct Is Super Smash Bros. FINALLY about to be announced for Nintendo Switch

One fateful October evening past year, Nintendo revealed the Nintendo Switch with a spunky commercial demonstrating the mobile capabilities of its then-upcoming portable games console. Is Splatoon just a bit too touchy-feely for your liking? There's also no online play which wouldn't be that big of an issue if it were on Switch, but it feels completely silly on Nintendo 3DS. Players won't be able to switch from the Nintendo Switch Online app to another app that uses the microphone or includes audio output. But two, it means third-party publishers are returning to a Nintendo system after distancing themselves during the Wii U years.

Nintendo has announced it will be hosting a Nintendo Direct livestream this evening.

Wolfenstein 2, meanwhile, will not be available until sometime in 2018.

The Switch-exclusive features have been detailed over on the game's new teaser site. They also went into brief detail about Amiibo Support and mini-games, as well as a Snapshot mode where you can create screensavers for your iPhones. Doom and Wolfenstein II have high-end graphics, and their pending arrival show that the Nintendo Switch is also capable of supporting games that require more power. Either way, this will likely be a must for Mario Party series fans when it comes to Europe in January 2018.

The majority of the Nintendo Direct was focused on Switch and 3DS games being released this year, so there were relatively few other surprises. Turns out the first one, Mario Bros, is coming to the Switch on September 27th.

Mario Odyssey launches October 27th, and will be available as part of a Switch bundle including the game, a console, and a pair of Mario red Joy-Cons. Customers are pressed to compromise either on the game or version of the Switch they want. GameStop enabled inventory checking for the unbundled consoles last week.

Six months into the Nintendo Switch's tenure as the company's current home console, we have seen some good signs for the future, while others remain missing.
