Light rain showers to turn into heavy rain, snow this evening

McDowell could have more winter weather

McDowell could have more winter weather

The temp today hits the mid and upper 30s with a south wind 10-20 miles per hour.

Saturday is forecasted to be sunny, though with a high of only 35 degrees during the day. As of this morning, our models are showing a track close to the coast, which would bringing more rain than snow to RI and Southeastern MA. We sailed through the first month of 2018 without a whiff of snow or a single day that stayed below 40 degrees.

So far, total snowfall for this winter at Sikorsky airport is 20.1 inches or 6.6 above average this time of season.

The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement for Ohio County. Cloudy, with a high near 47. Wind chill temperatures will drop to zero or below. Southwest wind around 9 miles per hour.

Sunday, snow before 9 a.m., then rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45. Southwest wind 6 to 9 miles per hour.

Thursday, mostly cloudy with light snow showers of less than one inch across southern Vermont and southern New Hampshire.

Friday: A 30 percent chance of snow before 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 18. Northwest wind 6 to 14 miles per hour. Friday's overnight low of 13 is expected to usher in at least several days in which temperatures fail to rise above freezing. Southwest winds will boost highs into the low 40s and then temperatures will be in the 30s for Monday. Saturday has mostly sunny skies and it is chilly in the mid-30s. The only downfall for today is that it will be windy with gusts to near 30 miles per hour possible.

Sunday: More clouds, some rain or snow, but light. Meanwhile, I believe it is under a 50/50 chance that the shore sees all snow, but a few wet flakes can definitely mix in. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. Night: Cloudy with 60 per cent chance of flurries.

Monday, partly sunny, with a high near 38. Cold air will wrap in behind this system, changing everything back to snow showers. There may be a stray rain shower near midnight in northern parts of our area. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 9.
