National Basketball Association trade deadline: Cavaliers fans go into Twitter MELTDOWN after stunning moves

Cavs revamp roster at National Basketball Association trade deadline hoping LeBron staysOnce summer rolls around, LeBron James stars on a different stage.

This was certainly the biggest deal of the day, as the Cavaliers also made a few other deals to help get younger. It only really matters what Cleveland's "real" general manager thinks. They also gave up their 2018 first-round draft pick, not the selection the Cavs got from the Nets. There was one rather interesting moment that came from a chorus of Atlanta fans, who wanted to try and get in Thompson's head as he was shooting free throws. A lot of action. He's proven to be one of the league's best defensive players, but he's not been himself this year.

"They've still got LeBron James".

"Obviously, we want LeBron to be here long-term", Altman said. And, what will Love look in these hard series, returning to the court from that hand injury in late March or early April? Now they bring in Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. from the Lakers, Rodney Hood from the Jazz and George Hill from the Kings. The Cavs announced the deal shortly before the deadline passed.

Minutes later, Wojnarowski reported that the Cavs had traded Dwyane Wade to Miami for a heavily protected second-round pick.

Aside from George, LeBron James, DeMarcus Cousins, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, DeAndre Jordan and Avery Bradley are among the players that could find themselves on the open market. It's how it's suppose to be.

The makeover was also aimed at placating James, who can become a free agent and leave Cleveland this summer.

"I think we're going to see a rejuvenated LeBron James, and that's the key", Altman said in a conference call with the Cleveland media. Lue dismissed a comment made by Thomas after the loss to the Magic that one of the Cavs' biggest issues is that they don't make enough in-game adjustments.

"I don't really know the deadline like that because this is really the first time I had to deal with it".

After James hit a buzzer-beating jumper to beat Minnesota in overtime on Wednesday night, Thomas stood at his locker and wondered if he would be on the move again.

"They added Isaiah Thomas, who was not healthy, and even when healthy (he) was not a good defender", Pluto said. "That's not a good thing". I like it here. And then the small little doses that I was able to play with Jae and IT, I wish it could have been better than it was. These moves will help them in terms of cap space next season, and perhaps Isaiah Thomas can return to form late this year, but this move was all about 2019.

"With the window that we had and the opportunities that we had, I thought it was the right time", Altman said. The Cavs tried to incorporate him into their offense, but it was forced and bogging them down. Now that Thomas, Rose and Wade are no longer on the roster, Clarkson will likely take over as the backup point guard and slide over to shooting guard depending on the matchups and how well he's playing on a given night.

However, that the Cavs were able to flush nearly half their roster Thursday while retaining the coveted Brooklyn draft pick is a good thing for a team battling an epidemic of bad things.

Cavs coach Tyronn Lue was back on the sideline after leaving Tuesday's loss in Orlando in the first half with an unspecified illness. Cleveland has won just seven of its last 20.

It turned to be a going-away celebration.
